A new chapter is unfolding at Everton, with the Friedkin Group’s arrival promising to overhaul the club’s recent struggles. The American investors are set to steer the Toffees away from the relegation dogfights of recent seasons, while long-standing PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) concerns are expected to be resolved.
A key piece of the club’s revival is the upcoming Hill Dickinson Stadium, projected to generate an additional £40 million annually. This financial boost will hand new manager David Moyes a significantly larger transfer budget in future windows—giving Everton the means to truly compete again.
The Toffees have already shown ambition this summer, with Manchester City’s Jack Grealish reportedly on their radar. French midfielder Habib Diarra, after a standout season, is also being closely monitored, further highlighting the club’s intent to strengthen.
Moyes Eyes West Ham Blueprint for Everton’s Revival
Fresh from receiving an OBE for his contributions to football, David Moyes shared his vision for Everton in a BBC interview. Inspired by his recent success at West Ham—where he led the club to European glory—Moyes made it clear that he’s aiming for similar heights on Merseyside.
“We had an incredible time at West Ham and winning a European trophy,” he said. “Now back at Everton, I’ve got to try and set the same sort of sights here. Earlier in my career, when I was at Everton, we regularly qualified for Europe. I feel like that has to be the goal again.”
Top 10 Finish First, Europe Next?
Midfielder James Garner echoed that ambition earlier this year. After a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in April, he spoke candidly about where Everton should be aiming.
“I don’t think many people expect us to finish in the top half next season, but we know we have the players and the ability to do it,” Garner said. “There’s no reason we can’t go on a similar run to Forest.”
While a top-10 finish may be the immediate target, the club’s aggressive moves in the transfer market suggest a more ambitious push could be on the cards—perhaps even a return to European football.
As Moyes put it: “We’ve got an exciting new stadium, new ownership, and a lot of positive change. It may not happen overnight, but we must aim to get back to those levels.”
