Sunderland and Leeds United Interested in Celtic’s Cameron Carter-Vickers Amid Premier League Transfer Talk

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is reportedly attracting serious interest from multiple clubs, including Sunderland and Leeds United, as both look to bolster their squads for the upcoming Premier League season.

Carter-Vickers, who initially joined Celtic on loan from Tottenham Hotspur before making the move permanent, has become a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ defense.

The American international has consistently impressed at the heart of the backline, playing a vital role in Celtic’s recent domestic success.

Now, according to transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, the 26-year-old is on the radar of several English clubs.

Alongside West Ham, both Leeds United and Sunderland are believed to be monitoring the defender’s situation closely.

Leeds, who are backed by 49ers Enterprises—the same ownership group behind the recent Rangers takeover—are thought to be especially keen on bringing Carter-Vickers back to England.

However, prising him away from Celtic may require a substantial bid, potentially in the region of £25–30 million, similar to what Celtic received for past stars like Kieran Tierney, Jota, and Matt O’Riley.

Premier League Return on the Cards?

Speaking to 67 Hail Hail, Bailey shared insights into Carter-Vickers’ growing market value and potential Premier League return:

“There’s a lot of interest in Cameron Carter-Vickers. He’s had an exceptional few years. Ipswich considered a move last summer but didn’t go through with it.

The player is very happy at Celtic, but from what I’m hearing, he may now be open to a Premier League return.”

“Leeds and Sunderland are definitely in the mix, and there are three or four other Premier League clubs seriously considering a move.

Given his performances, especially in the Champions League, it’s no surprise Celtic may struggle to keep hold of him.”

Bailey added that Carter-Vickers remains on a modest wage by Premier League standards, making him an attractive option for top-flight clubs seeking value in the market.

Rodgers Responds to Exit Talk

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, when previously asked about interest from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen during the winter window, played down the speculation:

“I haven’t seen anything regarding that, to be honest. There’s always going to be interest in our players, and plenty of speculation. But our focus is on improving the squad, not losing key players.”

Summary: While Carter-Vickers remains a vital part of Celtic’s setup, strong Premier League interest — especially from Sunderland and Leeds — could test the club’s resolve this summer.

With his price potentially soaring past £25 million, Celtic may face a tough decision in the coming weeks.
