Leeds United Still Eyeing Emiliano Buendia as Transfer Rumours Intensify
Leeds United remain linked with a summer move for Emiliano Buendia, as speculation surrounding the Aston Villa midfielder’s future continues to grow.
The 28-year-old playmaker, currently under contract at Villa Park until 2026, recently completed a loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen, where he made 14 appearances and scored twice.
With Leverkusen opting not to activate a £17 million permanent deal, Buendia’s next move is up in the air — and Elland Road could be a potential destination.
Buendia fuelled further speculation this week with a short but telling post on Instagram.
The Argentine shared a training photo alongside the caption: “Interval training done”, suggesting he’s staying in peak condition while awaiting clarity on his next step.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke is reportedly in the market for a new No.10, as the club looks to bring in at least five key additions before the September 1 deadline.
Given Buendia’s history with Farke at Norwich City — where he featured 121 times under the German — a reunion at Leeds has been a recurring talking point.
Buendia has spoken highly of Farke in the past, telling Talk Norwich City:
“He’s one of the most important coaches in my career. He gave me the chance to join Norwich and, most importantly, the confidence to be myself. He knew how to speak to me at the right time — in good and bad moments. He’s a special coach for me.”
Despite the strong connection and ongoing links, Leeds Live reports there’s no firm indication that Leeds have made an official move yet.
When asked about Buendia earlier this year — after Villa boss Unai Emery opened the door for a possible loan — Farke was respectful but cautious:
“I never comment on players under contract at other clubs. I’ve worked with Emi before and he was one of my best players. I really rate him — but I won’t discuss the situation of someone at another team.”
As it stands, Buendia’s future remains uncertain, but Leeds could be in the mix if Villa are open to letting him go.
