Done Deal; Everton have now completed the signing of sensational Striker

Everton Aiming Higher in the Premier League Under David Moyes

With Premier League safety secured last season, Everton are now setting their sights on climbing the table rather than battling relegation.

Manager David Moyes is already laying the groundwork to push the Toffees toward European contention in the 2025/26 campaign.

The club’s final Premier League game at Goodison Park was played in May, marking the end of an era as Everton prepare to move into their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock.

They’ll debut at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in their second fixture of the season, with newly-promoted Leeds United awaiting them at Elland Road on opening day.

Fresh Ambitions Under Moyes

Moyes engineered a strong finish to last season, capped by a 1-0 victory over Champions League qualifiers Newcastle United. Now, the former West Ham boss is eyeing European football once again—this time with Everton.

Significant changes are underway as the squad undergoes a reshuffle. Abdoulaye Doucouré, Ashley Young, Joao Virginia, Asmir Begović, Mason Holgate, and Neal Maupay have all been confirmed as departures.

The club’s transfer activity suggests Moyes wants a side capable of challenging much further up the table.

Defence: A Mix of Stability and Potential Additions

Jordan Pickford remains a guaranteed starter in goal, having been a mainstay since his 2017 arrival from Sunderland.

Defensive reinforcements are likely, especially at right-back, with Kyle Walker emerging as a possible target.

The Manchester City veteran has reportedly been told he’s not part of Pep Guardiola’s future plans, missing out on the Club World Cup squad.

If a deal for Walker doesn’t materialize, Everton are said to be considering other right-back options.

At centre-back, James Tarkowski is expected to retain his place, with Everton hopeful of keeping hold of Jarrad Branthwaite despite growing Premier League interest.

On the left, Vitaliy Mykolenko was a regular last season and is likely to start again—though his contract situation, with just a year remaining, will need addressing.

Midfield and Attack: Reinforcements and Rising Stars

Veteran midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye is nearing the end of his contract, but Everton have offered him a new deal amid interest from France.

James Garner is likely to keep his role in midfield, while Carlos Alcaraz—whose move from Flamengo was made permanent—will feature more prominently.

Iliman Ndiaye had a productive debut season, scoring nine goals in 33 league games, and is set to play an important role again.

Jack Grealish has been linked with a surprising move to Everton, after being excluded from City’s Club World Cup plans alongside Walker.

Up front, the Toffees are bracing for the exit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, leaving Beto as the only senior striker, with Youssef Chermiti still inexperienced and struggling with injuries last term.

Villarreal forward Thierno Barry has caught Everton’s attention, but interest from West Ham and Crystal Palace could complicate the deal.

Barry impressed in Spain, scoring 19 times in 41 appearances as Villarreal finished fifth in La Liga.

Projected Starting XI vs Leeds United (Opening Day):
Pickford; Walker, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Gueye, Garner; Grealish, Alcaraz, Ndiaye; Barry.

With a new stadium, ambitious ownership, and Moyes at the helm, Everton are aiming for more than just survival—2025/26 could mark the start of a new chapter.
