Wolves Seal First Summer Signing as Fer Lopez Joins from Celta Vigo
Wolves have kicked off their summer transfer business by securing the signing of Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo on a long-term contract.
The 21-year-old Spaniard becomes the first new addition of the window, arriving in the wake of key departures including Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Lopez’s arrival offers fresh excitement for fans, particularly after his enthusiastic comments about joining the Premier League side.

Dribbling Like Mbappe – Lopez’s Stats Turn Heads
While comparisons to elite talent are rarely thrown around lightly, Lopez’s numbers last season place him in the company of some of Europe’s best.
According to The Athletic, Lopez ranked 11th in La Liga for dribbles completed per 90 minutes among players who logged 600+ minutes — averaging 2.43 dribbles per game.
To put that into perspective, Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe averaged 2.56, while Vinicius Jr and Nico Williams posted 3.27 and 3.06, respectively.
Often deployed as a winger or an attacking midfielder, Lopez’s powerful running and flair have drawn comparisons to Jude Bellingham in terms of physical profile and versatility.
While not a direct replacement for Cunha, his ability to beat defenders one-on-one could bring back some of the attacking spark that Cunha provided for Wolves last season.
Celta Insider Backs Lopez to Shine in England
Jose Riviero, presenter at Radio Marca Vigo, believes Wolves have landed a future star.
“Fer Lopez was seen as one of Celta Vigo’s brightest young talents,” Riviero told Wolves’ official site. “He’s still raw, having only played about 15 senior matches, but he stood out at youth level and looked ready to take the next step.”
Riviero added that Lopez possesses a rare combination of “talent, physique, mentality and work ethic” that could see him develop into one of Europe’s top midfielders — especially if his physical development keeps pace with his technical growth.
“If he continues to progress, there’s no reason he can’t become a standout player in English football,” he concluded.
While Lopez is still early in his journey, Wolves fans have every reason to be optimistic. His mix of youthful energy, technical flair, and growing experience could make him a key figure in the club’s evolution under Pereira.
