Tottenham Hotspur May Be Gearing Up for a Potential Harry Kane Return
Tottenham Hotspur have received their strongest signal yet that a return for club legend Harry Kane could be on the horizon.
Kane, who has netted 213 Premier League goals, is widely regarded as a Spurs icon. He’s currently ranked eighth in FourFourTwo‘s list of the greatest Premier League players ever, thanks to his prolific career in North London.
At 31, Kane is far from past his prime. He’s also ranked second in FourFourTwo’s list of the best strikers in the world right now.
After joining Bayern Munich in 2023 in a record-breaking deal, Kane finally ended his long wait for silverware by helping the club to a Bundesliga title.
According to German outlet BILD, the England captain has a release clause of under £60 million—and with Tottenham holding first refusal rights, a return has never been off the table. The chances of a homecoming have grown with new developments in Germany.
Journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that Bayern Munich have reached a full verbal agreement to sign Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade this summer.
Woltemade, a 6ft 6in striker, has stood out at the 2025 European Under-21 Championship, scoring a hat-trick against Slovenia and adding another goal versus the Czech Republic. The 23-year-old has reportedly agreed to a contract through 2030.
With Kane’s current deal in Munich running until 2027, Woltemade’s arrival appears to be a long-term plan to eventually replace him.
FourFourTwo reports that Kane has no plans to leave Bayern this summer. However, with a capable successor lined up and Bayern potentially looking to recoup part of the £82.61 million they paid for him, a departure in 2026 could be on the cards.
As for what’s next, Kane is said to be open to returning to Tottenham in some form. There’s also reported interest in possibly finishing his career in the United States, with Major League Soccer a potential destination.
According to Transfermarkt, Kane is currently valued at €75 million.
