“Daniel Cummings Reveals Shocking Reason Behind West Ham Switch After Leaving Celtic

Daniel Cummings Says Joining West Ham Was an Opportunity ‘Too Good to Refuse’

Daniel Cummings has described the chance to move from Celtic to West Ham United this summer as “too good to say no” to.

The young striker announced his departure from the Bhoys on Instagram earlier today, with West Ham confirming his signing shortly afterward.

Cummings has committed to a long-term contract with the London club and will initially link up with their U21 squad for pre-season training, although he already has ambitions to break into the first team.

Speaking to West Ham’s official website, the 19-year-old explained why he chose the Premier League club, crediting West Ham’s sporting director Mark Noble for persuading him.

He said, “Playing in the Premier League is every young footballer’s dream, so when West Ham showed interest, I couldn’t say no. I’m excited to get started.

“From the very first call, Mark spoke so highly about everyone at the club and really sold the place to me. I did my homework on West Ham and saw there’s a clear path to the first team — which is exactly what a young player needs.

“I’ve been with Celtic since I was five, playing for their B team in the Lowland League and competing in the UEFA Youth League.

I also made my first-team debut in January against Aston Villa in the Champions League. All these experiences have prepared me perfectly for this next chapter at West Ham.

“I’m coming here full of confidence. Last season I loved every moment because I went into each game believing I’d score. Performing on a big stage like the UEFA Youth League was incredible.

“I’m a versatile striker who enjoys running behind defenses and holding up the ball, but at the core, I’m a goal scorer.

I love scoring and celebrating with the fans, so I’ll give absolutely everything for this club.”

Noble Praises Cummings’ Potential

West Ham sporting director Mark Noble expressed his excitement about the signing: “We’ve been monitoring Daniel’s progress for over a year.

He’s made a name for himself in Scotland and gained valuable experience. He’s a young, talented player with a strong work ethic, aggression, and physical presence.

“We knew he was a special talent and believe in his potential. We hope he’ll come here and show everyone what he can do because he has the pedigree for it.”

Last season, Cummings netted 29 goals for Celtic’s youth sides and made his only senior appearance for the club in the Champions League match against Aston Villa.
