The report suggests Tottenham have made an initial enquiry, with Inter valuing the Dutch international at around €25 million (£20 million). Chelsea and Manchester United are also reportedly monitoring the situation.
Why Dumfries Could Be the Smarter Signing
While Mbeumo’s attacking prowess would’ve added serious firepower to Spurs’ front line—especially after netting 20 Premier League goals last season—Dumfries offers something different, and arguably more valuable in terms of squad depth and tactical flexibility.
Dumfries, 29, is a dynamic, versatile option who can operate both as a full-back and a right-sided midfielder.
His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch was evident last season, where he tallied 11 goals and five assists in all competitions. Impressively, five of those goals came in the Champions League semi-finals against Barcelona.
Labelled “world-class” by StatMuse, the Dutchman also brings defensive solidity, winning 72% of his tackles and averaging 5.2 duels won per 90 minutes.
His ability to deliver in big games and compete at the highest level in Europe makes him a potentially vital asset as Spurs prepare for a busy 2025/26 campaign across multiple competitions.
Crucially, Dumfries would cost significantly less than Mbeumo and cover more roles across the pitch, offering Frank valuable depth and balance.
