2 sources state Leeds United on verge of signing – €4.5m per year at Elland Road
Last month, Gabriel Gudmundsson of Lille was linked with a potential move to Leeds United. Although there were rumors he had visited the English club’s facilities, the Swedish defender denied those claims. However, he made it clear that he was open to a transfer this summer.
Now, the newly promoted Premier League side appears ready to fulfill that wish. According to Foot Mercato, Gudmundsson is “packing his bags” as a move to Leeds draws near.
The report states that Leeds and Lille have reached a complete agreement over a €12 million transfer, though it’s unclear whether that amount includes performance-related bonuses.
Lille originally signed Gudmundsson for €6 million and, with only a year remaining on his contract, the French club stands to make a solid profit from his sale.
Swedish outlet Expressen corroborates Foot Mercato’s report, confirming the €12 million deal between Lille and Leeds.
They add that the 26-year-old fullback is set to sign a lucrative four-year contract at Elland Road, earning SEK 50 million (approximately €4.5 million) annually.
According to Expressen, barring any last-minute issues, Leeds are expected to finalize and announce Gudmundsson’s signing shortly, pending the completion of his medical.
