Sporting CP are eyeing Luis Suárez — the Colombian forward from Almería, not the former Liverpool and Barcelona star — as Gyökeres’ replacement. However, they’re delaying formal talks until the Swedish striker is sold.
Now, Sunderland have entered the picture and are attempting to outbid Sporting for Suárez, who is valued at €25 million (£22 million) by Almería. This move may push Sporting CP to accelerate Gyökeres’ sale to Arsenal, fearing they could lose their top replacement target.
Almería, for their part, are eager to resolve Suárez’s future quickly so they can find a new striker of their own. They’re reportedly unwilling to wait on Sporting CP if Sunderland submit a solid offer.
Gyökeres Keen on Arsenal Move
Gyökeres is eager to join the Gunners and is even willing to take a £1.7 million pay cut to make it happen. However, negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting CP remain the main stumbling block.
