Nottingham Forest Step Up Pursuit of Anthony Elanga Replacement
Nottingham Forest have intensified their efforts to find a replacement for Anthony Elanga, reportedly reaching a verbal agreement with a highly-rated winger.
With Elanga’s move to Newcastle United nearing completion, Forest supporters expressed mixed emotions.
While the Swedish winger thrived under Nuno Espírito Santo, the transfer fee received was substantial and gives the club a strong opportunity to reinvest in a suitable replacement.
However, their initial plans hit a setback when primary target Johan Bakayoko chose a move to RB Leipzig over a Premier League transfer.
Despite that disappointment, Forest’s recruitment team has remained active. Reports now suggest that the club has agreed personal terms with another promising wide player as they continue their push to fill the void left by Elanga.
Forest ‘Pushing’ for New Winger as Options Narrow
Yoane Wissa remains a key target for Forest, though competition from rival Premier League clubs complicates any move.
As a result, attention has shifted to Serie A, where journalist Luca Bendoni reports that Forest have made progress in their pursuit of Bologna’s Dan Ndoye.
The Swiss international, also on Napoli’s radar, is believed to have agreed personal terms with both clubs. However, a transfer fee is still under discussion, with Bologna yet to receive any formal bids.
Ndoye, who can play on the left wing or centrally, offers versatility and goal-scoring ability—traits that could make him a strong successor to Elanga.
Bologna Unmoved Without Official Offers
Much like Forest’s handling of Elanga—where several offers were rejected before a deal was finally struck—Bologna appear to be taking a firm stance.
Speaking at a charity event (via Tuttomercato), Bologna Sporting Director Marco Di Vaio addressed the situation:
“There’s interest in the player, but nothing official. We’re also in talks with him about a potential contract renewal, and he’s open to it. Our aim is to keep the core of the team together and limit changes.”
Forest will likely need to submit an official bid to prompt serious negotiations.
Still, Ndoye’s openness to personal terms with both Forest and Napoli suggests a new contract at Bologna may be unlikely.
