Leeds United Complete £20m Signing of Anton Stach from Hoffenheim
Leeds United have officially announced the signing of German international Anton Stach from Hoffenheim. The 26-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year contract at Elland Road in a deal valued at nearly £20 million.
Stach is Leeds’ sixth signing of the summer and the second central midfield addition following the arrival of Sean Longstaff from Newcastle last week. He will now link up with the squad in Germany for pre-season preparations.
The Whites have agreed to pay Hoffenheim an initial fee of £17.3 million, with an additional £2.6 million in performance-based add-ons. This makes Stach Leeds’ most expensive acquisition of the transfer window so far.
With the midfield now bolstered, Leeds’ recruitment chief Adam Underwood is expected to shift focus to other key areas, including securing a goalkeeper, a left-sided winger, and a striker.
Stach Discusses Key Role of Daniel Farke in Transfer Decision
Following confirmation of the move, Leeds released a short interview with Stach, in which he highlighted the significant role manager Daniel Farke played in convincing him to join the club.
Stach revealed that Farke offered constructive feedback during their early discussions, even before the deal was finalized — something the midfielder appreciated deeply.
“[Farke] was really important,” said Stach. “Every player needs to feel that trust from their manager. From the start, he showed me a clear path and pointed out areas I could improve. I liked that honesty. It wasn’t just praise — he challenged me, and that connection was key to my decision to join.”
A Statement Signing by Leeds United
Stach brings with him valuable Bundesliga experience and two international caps for Germany. His arrival not only strengthens the midfield but signals Leeds’ intent to compete, despite expectations of a tough season ahead.
Leeds managed to fend off strong interest from other clubs — most notably Besiktas, where former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had hoped to bring Stach in for their European campaign.
Instead, the midfielder opted to join Farke’s project at Elland Road, offering Leeds added threat from set-pieces, high-level experience, and a familiar face in Lukas Nmecha, a fellow German international.
