Chris Sutton believes that David Moyes is the “inevitable” choice to replace Sean Dyche at Everton if Dyche is dismissed following a fourth consecutive defeat to start the season.
Everton’s 2-0 lead was squandered in their 3-2 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday, leaving Dyche’s team at the bottom of the Premier League table with 13 goals conceded in just four matches. Despite reports suggesting that the board remains supportive of Dyche, Moyes is frequently mentioned as a potential replacement. Sutton, speaking on BBC Radio 5Live, conceded that it is “inevitable” that Moyes’ name will continue to surface given the team’s poor performance.
**Fans Turned Against Dyche**
Sutton acknowledged the growing frustration among fans, who are concerned about team selections, player form, and defensive issues. Despite these concerns and a string of defeats—3-2 to Bournemouth, 4-0 to Tottenham, and 3-0 to Brighton—Sutton argued that it is still “too early” to sack Dyche. He defended Dyche’s approach, noting that Everton’s defensive record, once a strength, has deteriorated sharply.
**Jordan Pickford Under Scrutiny**
With Everton struggling, reports from Alan Nixon suggest that goalkeeper Jordan Pickford might be the first major change Dyche makes. Pickford, who has been the club’s first-choice keeper since his arrival from Sunderland in 2017, has had a poor start to the season. With Asmir Begovic brought in as cover, he may soon be called upon to address the team’s woes.
