Tottenham Hotspur is eyeing Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres as they look to strengthen their squad. After a successful summer transfer window, where they brought in promising young talent and offloaded underperforming players, Spurs are planning for future signings following a solid debut season under Ange Postecoglou.
Dominic Solanke was signed from Bournemouth to replace Harry Kane, but his start has been rocky. He’s yet to score in his first two appearances and missed matches against Everton and Newcastle due to an ankle injury. Although he returned for the North London derby, he struggled against Arsenal.
Despite investing heavily in Solanke, Tottenham is already looking ahead, reportedly entering a transfer race with Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain for Gyokeres. Currently, Spurs appear to be the frontrunners for the Swedish forward.
Gyokeres has made a name for himself as one of Europe’s top strikers, scoring 43 goals in 50 games for Sporting CP last season after joining from Coventry City. This season, he has already netted nine goals in just seven matches, further increasing his appeal.
The 26-year-old has a €100 million release clause valid until 2028, but Sporting is open to selling him for a lower fee next year. With his impressive performance in Portugal, Gyokeres is likely to attract significant offers soon.
