Pedro Porro has described himself as “rubbish” in comparison to Spanish teammates Dani Carvajal and Jesus Navas.
Over the past 18 months, Porro has been a key player for Tottenham, ranking among the top two on the team for tackles (18), blocks (12), interceptions (10), and chances created (13) this season. He also scored Spurs’ first goal of the season in their 1-1 draw against Leicester City.
His impressive performance has led to links with Real Madrid, and he expressed pride in being associated with the 15-time European champions.
Despite his achievements, Porro is humble, acknowledging that he still falls short of Carvajal and the 38-year-old Navas, who continues to perform well at Sevilla. He is committed to improving every day.
“I always strive to get better,” Porro told MaisFutebol while on international duty with Spain. “I’m a player who pays attention to the smallest details. We shouldn’t just focus on what we do well.”
He added, “I’m a very honest player who speaks candidly. There’s still a lot for me to improve; I’m only 25. I look at the careers of Navas and Carvajal and think: I’m rubbish. It’s true! When people mention their careers, I feel I’m on the right path. I hope to reach their level one day because they are my idols.”
