“Far better than Frank Ribery”- Jack Grealish claimed Tottenham have a player who’s even better than Frank Ribery. Player not Solanke, Heung-min, and not Maddison
Jack Grealish of Manchester City recently shared his admiration for Heung-min Son, captain of Tottenham Hotspur, ranking him above Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Bayern Munich icon Franck Ribery.
In a talkSPORT interview, Grealish acknowledged Diaz’s talents but ultimately favored Son for his consistency and significant impact at Tottenham. His praise surprised some, particularly because of Ribery’s celebrated career, but Grealish feels Son’s contributions make him exceptional.
However, Grealish did not name Son as his all-time favorite winger, instead selecting former Chelsea star Eden Hazard. He named Cristiano Ronaldo as the best overall player.
Son’s consistent performance and influence have established him among the elite wingers in modern football. Since becoming captain at the start of the 2023-24 season, he has led by example, scoring a hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Burnley and reaching 150 goals for the club. His season included standout moments like a brace in the North London derby and the opening goal in a 2-1 win against Liverpool.
Son concluded the season with 17 goals and 10 assists in 35 league matches, making him Tottenham’s fifth-highest goalscorer and the club’s all-time assist leader, with a total of 164 goals and 86 assists in 415 appearances.
Despite ongoing discussions, Son’s long-term future at Tottenham is uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract. The club is reportedly looking to activate an extension clause to add another year, giving them leverage in potential transfer talks. Currently sidelined with an injury, Son is expected to return to full training next week in preparation for the match against West Ham.
