Ben Chilwell is not included in Enzo Maresca’s plans at Chelsea.

The 27-year-old has seen his position diminish since Maresca’s arrival earlier this year, with Marc Cucurella now the preferred left-back and new signing Renato Veiga serving as backup.

Earlier this summer, Maresca acknowledged that the club attempted to offload the struggling full-back. “The idea for him was to leave,” the Italian stated, according to the Independent.

Chilwell’s performances at Leicester City earned him a significant transfer to Chelsea in 2020, costing the club €50.2 million. Now, Leicester City is reportedly considering re-signing him.

Despite staying in London through the summer, all signs point to a potential early exit from Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell, who has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, is being targeted by his former club. The defender joined Leicester’s youth academy at age 12 and played there until his transfer to Chelsea.

Steve Cooper, eager to strengthen his defensive lineup for the challenging second half of the season, is interested in a loan deal. Reports suggest that Chilwell is open to a move due to his limited playing time.

During his tenure in London, Chilwell has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 107 appearances across all competitions, earning £200,000 per week.
