Ange Postecoglou has criticized Dejan Kulusevski for “losing composure” during Sunday’s loss to Crystal Palace but believes there is still much to come from the Tottenham forward.
Kulusevski has been a standout performer for Spurs this season, leading the team with 24 chances created in the Premier League, along with two goals and an assist. However, his performance at Selhurst Park fell short of expectations.
He missed a key opportunity to equalize just before half-time and, in his 62 minutes on the pitch, managed to complete only 73% of his passes, created just one chance, and lost seven out of nine ground and aerial duels.
With crucial matches against Manchester City and Aston Villa in the EFL Cup and Premier League ahead, plus a trip to Galatasaray in the Europa League, Spurs need Kulusevski to return to form.
Postecoglou acknowledged that Kulusevski “lost composure” against Crystal Palace but is encouraged by the player’s development, stating that there is more to come.
“I think Deki is growing, and that’s reflective of the entire group,” said the Tottenham manager. “He faced some challenges on the weekend that contributed to his loss of composure, but that’s part of his growth.”
He emphasized the importance of learning from experiences like these and focusing on team contributions rather than personal frustrations. Postecoglou praised Kulusevski’s overall impact this season, highlighting his positive attitude and mentality, and expressed confidence that there’s more to come from him.
