‘We deserved it but no problem this is just the beginning”- Arsenal star William Saliba delivers BRUTAL honest verdict following Newcastle United defeat
Alexander Isak’s early goal secured all three points for Newcastle United, bringing them within three points of Arsenal in the Premier League standings. Despite dominating possession, Mikel Arteta’s team struggled to challenge Nick Pope in goal, resulting in their second league defeat of the season.
After the match, Arsenal defender William Saliba offered a candid assessment of the loss at St James’ Park. Returning to the starting lineup after a one-game ban during the draw with Liverpool, Saliba acknowledged that his team deserved to lose. He told Premier League Productions, “We are all a bit sad because we wanted to win today. Unfortunately, we didn’t play the way we wanted, and I think we deserved to lose.”
He continued, “We didn’t perform as we intended, and Newcastle played well. But we’re focused on the next week; it’s not over.”
Isak’s goal, a powerful header from Anthony Gordon’s excellent cross, marked his third in as many games and showcased a classic striker’s finish. Saliba praised the goal, saying, “It was a great goal, a fantastic cross, and impressive finishing, but we can always improve. They scored early, and we couldn’t equalize.”
He emphasized the importance of unity, recalling that last season they faced similar challenges. “We need to stick together and maintain confidence. We all believe we will bounce back.”
