Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly made an £80 million bid for Arsenal centre-back William Saliba, described as an offer “hard to refuse.”
Since joining Arsenal in 2019, Saliba has become a key player, making a strong impact since finally debuting in 2022. He has played every minute in both the Premier League and Champions League this season, aside from a match in which he was sent off.
However, Arsenal’s hold on Saliba is now threatened, as Fichajes reports PSG’s €95 million (£80/$103.5 million) offer. His impressive performances have attracted interest not only from the French club but also from other major European teams.
While the offer is significant, Arsenal is reportedly keen to retain Saliba long-term. PSG’s interest in strengthening their defense is evident, with additional reports suggesting they are pursuing Barcelona’s Jules Koundé for around €100 million (£84 million/$109 million).
Losing Saliba would be particularly challenging for Arsenal, especially as sporting director Edu, who joined in 2019, is also set to leave the club, potentially creating a vacuum of talent to fill.
Amid the uncertainty surrounding Edu’s departure, it remains unclear when he will officially leave. Reports indicate that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has shown interest in him.
In terms of player management, Arsenal has been advised that Bukayo Saka should not be given the captaincy, as it may distract him from focusing on his performance. Additionally, the club is looking into acquiring West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus, with Leandro Trossard facing interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Saliba’s accolades in Ligue 1 highlight his potential fit at PSG, where he previously excelled and has since established himself as one of the top defenders in the world.
