The 24-year-old winger has reportedly caught the attention of Wolves after a strong season with Turkish side Galatasaray, scoring six goals and providing two assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.
Akgun has been a regular starter for Galatasaray this season, featuring in nine of their 12 league matches and also making four appearances in the Europa League.
The Turkish international, with 14 caps to his name, returned to Galatasaray following a season-long loan at Leicester City, where he made 23 appearances in the Championship and played a key role in their promotion to the Premier League, contributing four goals.
According to Takvim, Wolves are monitoring Akgun’s progress and could target him for a transfer after the season if he continues to impress.
Although there is no official asking price from Galatasaray, Akgun’s contract situation could force the club to make a decision in 2025, as he will have just 12 months left on his deal. This could potentially allow interested clubs to acquire him at a lower price.
A versatile forward, Akgun is capable of playing in various attacking positions, though he has primarily featured on the left wing for Galatasaray this season.
It remains to be seen whether Wolves will increase their interest in Akgun next year, particularly after already signing promising wingers Rodrigo Gomes and Carlos Forbs during the summer transfer window.
Gary O’Neil’s side have recently moved out of the relegation zone, securing a crucial 4-1 win at Fulham to climb to 17th place. Wolves’ next match is at home against Bournemouth on Saturday, followed by a trip to fellow relegation candidates Everton next week.
