“At Celtic or another team” – Player urged to get more minutes, even if it means Celtic exit
Celtic forward Luis Palma has been advised to find a club where he can secure more playing time, even if it means leaving the Scottish side.
Honduras president Jorge Salomón shared his thoughts with Diario La Prensa, emphasizing the importance of regular game time for players like Palma to stay at their best for the national team.
Palma has faced a challenging season at Celtic, making only seven appearances across all competitions, totaling just 183 minutes of play. It seems he has fallen out of favor under manager Brendan Rodgers, a surprising turn for a player who impressed last season with 12 goals and 13 assists in 41 appearances.
Despite his struggles at the club, Palma has remained a key player for his national team, featuring in recent matches against Trinidad and Jamaica in September, as well as a double-header against Mexico last month.
Salomón believes Palma is crucial for the national team and wants to see him continue thriving. However, he acknowledges that if Palma’s situation at Celtic doesn’t improve in the coming months, a move away from the club might be necessary.
“We hope players like Palma get the chance to play more regularly, whether at Celtic or with another team,” Salomón said.
“He is a very respectful, hardworking young man who loves the national team, takes care of himself, and is deeply committed to this cause. I hope he is fortunate enough to find a club that offers him more playing time, which would benefit both his development and the growth of our national team, along with others.”
