“Devastated” Rasmus Hojlund reveals exactly what went wrong for Man United in loss to Nottingham Forest
Rasmus Hojlund has stated that Manchester United’s momentum was disrupted by Nottingham Forest, who scored early in both halves during their 3-2 victory over Ruben Amorim’s side on Saturday.
The match began with Nikola Milenkovic opening the scoring just 91 seconds after kickoff, outjumping Lisandro Martinez to head the ball into the net.
Hojlund equalized on the rebound after a brilliant assist from Manuel Ugarte, and United nearly took the lead before halftime when Bruno Fernandes’ powerful free-kick hit the crossbar.
The Red Devils struggled once again after the break, as Morgan Gibbs-White regained the lead for Forest following a weak save from Onana. The goalkeeper was at fault again when Chris Wood made it 3-1. Fernandes’ stunning strike gave United hope for a comeback, but Forest managed to hold on for all three points.
After the match, Hojlund spoke with MUTV about whether the result met his expectations. He replied, “No, not at all. It’s frustrating to concede three at home against Forest. We knew that if they scored, it would be tough, and we gave away some frustrating goals.”
He added, “We need to improve, all of us. We all need to do better. Today could have been much, much better.”
“It’s frustrating because they scored early in both halves, which really killed our momentum and confidence,” he continued. “I think we played well in the first half after we equalized. Their two goals disrupted the game, but with 35 minutes still to play at home, we should have done more to at least earn a point.”
On his goal, Hojlund commented, “It’s my job to be in those positions, but right now I’m not thinking about that too much. Honestly, I’m quite devastated because we know how important these points are.”
“We have another game in just three or four days, and then a crucial derby next week at the Etihad,” he added.
Hojlund has now scored two goals in the Premier League this season and five in 16 appearances across all competitions.
