Done Deal: Wolves reportedly ‘complete’ the Signing of Sensational £23m Top Striker in blow to Everton and Ipswich Town
Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to secure the permanent signing of a highly rated striker.
Wolves will complete the transfer of Jorgen Strand Larsen on a permanent deal after the forward met the required number of appearances to activate a purchase clause.
The club has been thoroughly impressed with Strand Larsen’s performances over the past five months and is more than willing to pay the £23 million fee to make his move permanent.
Initially signed on a season-long loan from Spanish side Celta Vigo for £2.5 million, Strand Larsen has featured 20 times in the Premier League and twice in cup competitions, triggering the clause for a permanent transfer.
The 19-time Norway international has contributed seven goals and three assists across all competitions to date. Birmingham World reports that Strand Larsen is set to sign a new contract that will keep him at Wolves until June 2029.
Versatile in attack, Strand Larsen can play as a central striker or on either wing. He has proven to be not only a solid target man but also a capable dribbler. His partnership with Wolves’ star Matheus Cunha has been a highlight, even as the team has struggled for form throughout the season.
New manager Vitor Pereira did rest Strand Larsen for one match against Tottenham Hotspur, but this was to protect him from injury after a run of consecutive games. The 24-year-old is expected to be Wolves’ first-choice striker for years to come.
Strand Larsen’s permanent move to Wolves is a setback for several Premier League clubs, including Everton and Ipswich Town, who had been monitoring his situation. Celta Vigo cannot recall him before the deal is finalized, so barring any injuries, he will be available to help Wolves maintain their Premier League status.
