“Agreement Reached: Everton Set to Finalize €20 Million Deal for Olympique Lyon’s Attacking Star

Everton are on the verge of securing Olympique Lyon’s attacking talent Ernest Nuamah in a deal worth €20 million.

According to RMC Sport, the Premier League club has reached an agreement with Lyon for the transfer of Nuamah, and negotiations with the player are currently underway. However, all parties are optimistic that the deal will be finalized.

Nuamah joined Lyon in the summer of 2023 from their sister club Molenbeek, initially on loan with an option to buy. Although the Ghanaian international did not make a significant impact, Lyon triggered the €28.5 million buy clause to make the move permanent last summer.

Lyon, under the ownership of John Textor, were hoping to sell Nuamah for a profit right away. They had agreed on a deal with Fulham, but the player declined to go through with the move and skipped his medical, causing the transfer to collapse.

In the six months since, Lyon’s financial situation has not improved, and they are still seeking to raise funds by selling Nuamah, who has contributed just two goals in 18 matches this season. The French club are under pressure to balance their books and have already let a few players depart, including terminating Wilfried Zaha’s loan and selling Maxence Caqueret to Como for €15 million.

Everton have been in discussions with Lyon about Nuamah’s transfer for some time, and their €20 million offer, submitted last week, appears to have been accepted. Under new manager David Moyes, the club is looking to bolster their attacking options, and the versatile Nuamah, capable of playing across the frontline, would add valuable depth to their squad.

With the €20 million deal in place, Everton are now working to finalize the terms with Nuamah and convince him to make the move to England. All parties are confident that the transfer will go through soon.
