“It’s my understanding that it’s now more likely that Cunha will”- Worrying Update on Matheus Cunha’s Future at Wolves – Could He Be Leaving?

Matheus Cunha is reportedly more likely to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers than stay before the winter transfer window closes, according to Ryan Leister of The Wolves Report.

Arsenal are said to be leading the race to sign Cunha, who is drawing interest from several clubs and is valued at over £60 million. Other Premier League teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, are also keen on the Brazilian forward, who had been in discussions about extending his contract at Molineux.

The 25-year-old has impressed with 10 goals and four assists in 21 league appearances, showcasing his talent from the left side of Wolves’ attack. Cunha joined the club in July 2023 from Atletico Madrid on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for £44 million.

Leister: Cunha’s Departure Looks Likely Amid Interest The Brazilian forward is now unlikely to extend his contract.

Leister shared concerns about Cunha’s future, stating that a departure now seems more probable than him staying. He explained on X: “It’s my understanding that it’s more likely Cunha will leave Wolves this window than stay. Several Premier League clubs have shown interest, and the Brazilian is apparently eager to move. I’d be delighted to be wrong and hope he signs a new deal, but I’m not sure that will happen.”

Cunha’s potential exit would pose a major challenge for manager Vitor Pereira, with Wolves currently fighting relegation in the Premier League. The team sits 17th, just above the relegation zone on goal difference after 22 matches.

A 3-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday left Cunha frustrated, and his manager expressed disappointment in his body language. It now appears the forward is eyeing a move to a club competing for a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
