Will Phillippe Clement heeds to him advice?

Former Rangers and Scotland midfielder, Michael Stewart, has advised the Scottish giants to sell Cyriel Dessers, despite his recent impressive form, according to Soccernet.ng.

The 30-year-old’s time at Ibrox has been marked by inconsistency, with moments of brilliance followed by stretches of poor performance. However, he has still managed to be the club’s top scorer over the past 18 months, underlining his significance.

In November, Dessers lost his starting position to Moroccan U-23 striker, Hamza Igamane, pushing him down the Rangers’ attacking hierarchy. This led to interest from several clubs eager to secure the former Cremonese striker, who was seeking more playing time, even if it meant leaving Scotland.

Despite this, Dessers has remained resilient, seizing his chances and scoring six goals in his last four games, rekindling the form that initially brought him to Rangers. However, Stewart remains unconvinced.

The former Manchester United midfielder believes Dessers’ recent performances could work in Rangers’ favor, potentially allowing them to secure a lucrative transfer fee. He is not in favor of keeping Dessers at the club.

“Cyriel Dessers, if I were Rangers, I’d be thrilled with his recent performances and would use it to facilitate his departure,” Stewart said, as reported by Rangers News. “He’s scored two excellent goals, and his numbers aren’t bad.

But let’s be honest, he’s not good enough. Antonio Colak, for me, was a more complete striker than Dessers.”

Stewart added, “Sell Dessers now while his value is up. You could recoup some money, and those last two games would make the decision easier. Don’t be misled into thinking there’s untapped potential. We’ve seen enough.”

On the other hand, Dessers remains unfazed by opinions about his future. As previously reported by Soccernet.ng, the Belgium-born Nigerian striker has made it clear that he has unfinished business at Rangers.
