Tottenham fans have found an unexpected ally in their calls for change at the club.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has voiced support for a segment of the Tottenham fanbase as mounting pressure begins to surround the club.
Spurs are enduring one of their worst seasons in recent memory, currently sitting 15th in the Premier League, and once again facing questions over the future of their manager.
Despite a series of injuries that have made this season particularly challenging, manager Ange Postecoglou is under growing pressure.
However, it seems his position remains secure for the time being, even after a disappointing home defeat to relegation-threatened Leicester City.
Many Spurs fans, frustrated by the lack of silverware in recent years, have turned their attention to chairman and part-owner Daniel Levy, with numerous supporters calling for his removal. Now, Ian Wright has stepped in, offering an unexpected voice of support for those critics.
On The Overlap podcast, Wright said, “They should have been winning things under the current owner.
They haven’t won anything with Levy at the helm, have they? Tottenham used to win trophies, they used to win FA Cups, they used to win things. It’s him.
He’s the problem, they need to get him out and bring in an owner who’s committed to winning for the fans. The stadium is always full.”
This comes after Gary Neville raised concerns, stating, “What I’m hearing is, everyone wants Ange to stay, but will Daniel Levy allow that? That’s the big question. There are rumors that they’re trying to sell the club, but that’s not going to happen quickly.”
Neville continued, “The rumors are that Tottenham is looking for new ownership, and it’s clear that something has to change—either the owners sell, or the manager gets replaced.”
Tottenham has grown significantly in recent years, with their new stadium boosting revenue and laying the foundation for a top-tier club.
However, their lack of investment in playing staff and the imbalance in squad building have led them in circles, hindering their ambition to consistently compete for a top-four Premier League spot.
