“Better than Danso”- Wolves inverge to Hijack 80k/week PL ‘MONSTER’ who would be far better than Danso
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira is hoping to keep key players like Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha at Molineux in the coming days amid growing interest in them.
If successful, Wolves could have a strong chance of avoiding relegation to the Championship. So far, the club has only made one signing, bringing in defender Emmanuel Agbadou from Stade Reims.
But will Pereira make a move in the transfer market over the next couple of days? He could look to disrupt a Premier League deal that seemed all but done.
Wolves Eyeing Move for Premier League Defender
According to Ben Jacobs speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Wolves are monitoring the situation of Aston Villa target Axel Disasi and may look to make a move in the next few days.
Disasi, earning £80k-per-week, has already agreed personal terms with Villa, but the two clubs have yet to agree on a fee with Chelsea. This leaves the door open for Wolves to make their own approach and potentially hijack the deal.
Pereira had been close to signing another defender, Kevin Danso, who had agreed personal terms with Wolves. However, a fee has not been finalized, and now Danso is being linked with a move to Juventus.
Why Wolves Should Pursue Axel Disasi
Disasi, formerly of AS Monaco, joined Chelsea two years ago and quickly became an important part of the squad under Mauricio Pochettino. However, under Enzo Maresca, he has frequently played out of position as a right-back, making only 17 appearances in all competitions, with just five of those coming as a centre-back.
Despite his limited game time, Disasi has impressed statistically when compared to his positional peers across Europe’s top leagues. He ranks in the top 10% for non-penalty goals (0.14), progressive carries (1.29), and successful take-ons (0.5) per 90 minutes, indicating his forward-thinking style of play.
In contrast, Danso ranks in the top 50% for non-penalty goals (0.04), the top 43% for progressive carries (0.67), and the top 42% for successful take-ons (0.2) in comparison to his peers.
Moreover, Disasi loses possession fewer times per game than Danso (5.5 vs 11.1), wins a higher percentage of aerial duels (71% vs 64%), and wins possession more frequently (0.3 vs 0.1) in their respective domestic leagues.
Dubbed a “monster” by journalist Rahman Osman during his first full season at Chelsea, Disasi’s future at Stamford Bridge seems uncertain, and Wolves should certainly be doing everything they can to hijack his potential move to Villa.
