JUST IN; Tottenham star sends Mohamed Salah message before facing Liverpool in Carabao Cup
Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s forward, will look to lead his team to the Carabao Cup final on Thursday when they face Tottenham in the semi-final’s second leg. The Reds are trailing 1-0 after Lucas Bergvall’s late goal a month ago.
Meanwhile, Djed Spence, who has been in impressive form recently, is prepared to take on the challenge of stopping Salah. Spence has gained recognition during a challenging period for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
“I back myself against anyone, whoever,” Spence told the Daily Mirror. Facing Salah at Anfield, however, could be his toughest test yet. “He’s a top player, in great form,” Spence said. “But you’ve got to focus on nullifying his strengths.”
That, however, won’t be an easy task. “He’s good at a lot of things,” Spence admitted. “I just need to stay focused and hopefully come out on top. We’ve got to be confident, ready to fight, and aim for the final.”
Spence has been in excellent form recently, earning Man of the Match honors for his display against Bryan Mbeumo in Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Brentford. He is also eyeing a national team call-up under Thomas Tuchel.
“I definitely want to play for England,” Spence said. “It’s one of my goals, something I want to achieve.”
Liverpool.com comments: Spence has been playing some of the best football of his career lately, but Salah has already demonstrated against Milos Kerkez in the Bournemouth match that he can make a decisive impact even when his opponent is performing well.
Liverpool will be hopeful of overcoming Tottenham, with Salah likely to play a central role in their success.
