“Tottenham’s SECRET Fourth Signing Revealed – Ange Postecoglou’s Genius Move Saves Spurs MILLIONS
Tottenham Hotspur didn’t sign an outfield player until February during the winter transfer window, with a month passing between their first and second signings of the year. Antonin Kinsky and Kevin Danso joined almost four weeks apart.
Less than 48 hours after adding those two players, Mathys Tel made it three signings on deadline day. Spurs confirmed his loan move 10 minutes after the 11 pm deadline had passed.
All three new signings were available to play against Liverpool in the second leg of Tottenham’s League Cup semi-final, with Kinsky making his debut in the first leg. However, he wasn’t the only new face in the squad for that early January match.
Mikey Moore, who had not featured in a matchday squad for two months, also returned to the bench. The 17-year-old had been sidelined with a virus during November and December.
After making his return, Moore started in Tottenham’s FA Cup third-round tie against Tamworth, playing around 60 minutes before being replaced by Dominic Solanke. He then returned to the bench as an unused substitute for the north London derby three days later.
That would be the last time Moore didn’t play for Spurs. He came on for Pape Matar Sarr at Goodison Park against Everton, assisting Richarlison’s late goal after Dejan Kulusevski had scored. Moore made a similar impact in a Europa League match away to Hoffenheim, where he replaced Richarlison and set up Son Heung-Min’s winning goal. While his performance wasn’t as influential when he replaced Richarlison again at home against Leicester City, Moore found the back of the net in his first start since returning, against Elfsborg.
In that final league match, Moore played the full 90 minutes for the first time in nearly five months and scored in stoppage time. As a result, manager Ange Postecoglou gave the teenager his first Premier League start away at Brentford, though he was substituted at halftime for Lucas Bergvall.
With the arrival of Tel and the returns of Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Solanke, Timo Werner, and Wilson Odobert later this month, Moore’s opportunities in the first team are likely to decrease. Nonetheless, in January, the winger was a valuable asset for Spurs when they needed him the most.
