“Nuno’s SHOCKING Admission After Nottingham Forest’s COSTLY Defeat to Newcastle
Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo reflected on a costly first-half period as Nottingham Forest suffered their third consecutive away defeat in the Premier League.
The Reds initially took the lead against Newcastle United through a Callum Hudson-Odoi goal in the 6th minute.
However, Newcastle quickly turned the tide, scoring four goals in 11 minutes to establish a commanding lead by halftime.
Forest showed improvement in the second half, mounting a strong response.
Goals from Nikola Milenkovic and Ryan Yates reduced the deficit and gave the visitors hope of earning a draw.
However, despite a late surge, with just three minutes added on, Nuno’s side ran out of time to find a fourth and ultimately lost 4-3.
When asked about the issues during that crucial first-half spell, Nuno said: “I wish I could answer that and be fair. But honestly, I don’t know. And what I do know, I’m not going to share with you.
“It was a game of two halves. We started well with the goal, but then the momentum shifted. Newcastle were much better than us, causing us numerous problems, scoring goals, and creating a significant gap on the scoreboard.
“We tried to settle down, calm ourselves, and regain our identity. In the first half, I didn’t recognize our team. But in the second half, we were much improved. It was a strong reaction from us. We started and finished the second half as the better team, but it wasn’t enough.
“I would have preferred an extra 10 minutes because we had the momentum. We created chances and were on top. Who knows, with a bit more time, we might have taken something from this match.
“Of course, we’re frustrated. But even though we created chances, the key issue for us is the 15 minutes in which we lost the game. That’s what we need to focus on.”
