"100% dribbles, 100% ground duels won, 100% aerial duels won, Troy Deeney’s left mute"- Wolves star who won 100% of his duels vs Bournemouth just sent Troy Deeney a strong message. Player not Cunha

“100% dribbles, 100% ground duels won, 100% aerial duels won, Troy Deeney’s left mute”- Wolves star who won 100% of his duels vs Bournemouth just sent Troy Deeney a strong message. Player not Cunha

Wolves’ victory over Bournemouth saw more than just Matheus Cunha shine on the South Coast.

Vitor Pereira will be thrilled with his team’s performance, securing three points at the Vitality Stadium.

Wolves triumphed 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Matheus Cunha, and they held onto their lead despite Bournemouth playing with ten men. While Cunha’s 13th goal of the season grabbed the headlines, he wasn’t the only standout player against Andoni Iraola’s side.

Toti Gomes Was Rock-Solid Against Bournemouth
Cunha’s impact at Wolves continues to be remarkable, but the team’s push for safety requires more than just his brilliance.

Toti Gomes was unmoveable against Bournemouth

Against Bournemouth, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was arguably just as influential as Cunha, and he wasn’t the only top performer.

From the attacking duo to André’s midfield display, it was in defense where another standout performer emerged—Toti Gomes, who impressed greatly at the Vitality.

The Portuguese international dominated every duel, both aerial and on the ground, proving a near-impossible challenge for the hosts.

Toti has undergone a transformation under Pereira, which is especially satisfying considering the harsh criticism he faced before the new Wolves manager took charge.

Troy Deeney’s Criticism of Toti Gomes
When Gary O’Neil switched to a back four, Toti was one of the players who struggled the most, having a tough start to the season.

Troy Deeney asked to be reminded of Toti Gomes comments

After Wolves’ opening day defeat to Arsenal, Troy Deeney offered some harsh comments about Toti. On the Ben Foster – The Cycling GK podcast, Deeney described the Wolves center-back as a “car crash,” saying:

“The boy Toti, mate, he falls over his laces. He’s a car crash, remember I said that, he’s a car crash.”

Deeney would have been left feeling embarrassed by Toti’s dominant performance against Bournemouth and might now regret his earlier comments about the 26-year-old.
