Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has shared his thoughts ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Tottenham on Wednesday night.

Spurs have shown improvement recently, winning back-to-back matches, which has eased some of the pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham’s injury woes are starting to ease, with several players returning to fitness.

Postecoglou will be hoping to prove his capabilities with a largely healthy squad for the remainder of the season, even though European qualification through the Premier League seems unlikely.

However, Spurs’ recent momentum will be tested when they face a Manchester City team fighting for a top-four finish. City has been in better form lately but suffered a loss to Liverpool over the weekend.

They played without star striker Erling Haaland in that match, but Guardiola remains hopeful he will be fit for the Spurs game. In his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said, “Tonight, we will know after training.

I hope so, but I don’t know yet. He feels better, but he couldn’t play the last two games. We’ll see tomorrow.”

In addition to updating the media on Haaland’s fitness, Guardiola praised Tottenham and singled out one player he sees as a major threat.

“They’re a fantastic team with individual quality,” he said. “The rhythm and intensity they play with is incredible, especially in transitions. But lately, they’ve been making a few more extra passes.

They can do it particularly when James Maddison plays. The results say one thing, but my opinion of the team is different.”

Maddison, who recently returned from a calf injury, has played in Tottenham’s last two matches, scoring once and assisting another goal.

The Englishman plays a crucial role in Tottenham’s build-up play, and Guardiola will surely remember that Maddison scored twice against City earlier this season.

In related news, Tottenham is reportedly “willing” to offer £24.8 million to sign a midfielder.
