“Absolutely Wonderful”- BBC Pundits mesmerized by what 24y/o did in Rangers win v Fenerbahce

Rangers delivered a breathtaking performance away from Ibrox, securing a crucial 3-1 lead in the first leg of their round of 16 clash against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in Istanbul.

With this commanding result, Rangers are now in a strong position to reach the quarter-finals.

Cyriel Dessers scored once and could have had a hat-trick, but two of his goals were disallowed after VAR reviews.

Vaclav Cerny was the hero of the night, scoring twice to seal the win for Rangers. Despite a tough season domestically, the Gers have shown a different level of play in Europe.

One standout moment was Nicolas Raskin’s brilliant pass to set up Cerny for the third goal, as Rangers executed a rapid counter-attack.

Steven Thompson was full of praise for Raskin’s pass, calling it “wonderful” on BBC Radio Scotland. He added: “That pass is absolutely perfect—exact in weight and precision. Cerny kept his composure, opened up the angle, and curled it in.”

Barry Ferguson Must Be Proud of This Rangers Display

Dessers capitalized on a defensive mistake from Fenerbahce to put Rangers ahead with a scrappy goal.

The home team quickly responded through a stunning volley from Alexander Djiku to level the score.

However, just before halftime, Rangers regained the lead after a brilliant combination between Dessers and Cerny, finished off with an exquisite shot.

In the second half, Rangers were left frustrated as two of Dessers’ goals were ruled out for offside, both by the narrowest of margins.

But Cerny delivered the final blow, scoring from a brilliant counter-attack set up by Raskin’s superb pass. The finish was clinical, securing a fantastic away victory for Rangers.

If Rangers can replicate this level of intensity and performance at Ibrox, they will be well-placed to overcome Fenerbahce in the second leg next week.
