Leeds United have been increasingly linked with several strikers for potential summer moves, and some of these names are generating real excitement.
Back in January, Leeds were in desperate need of a striker. With Patrick Bamford sidelined due to injury, Daniel Farke was left with just Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph as his only fit forward options.
However, the club didn’t make any signings in the winter transfer window. Despite this, Leeds remain at the top of the Championship table, though they’ve had a slight dip in form with one win, one draw, and one loss in their last three matches.
Leeds got back on track last time out with a 2-0 victory over Millwall at Elland Road, reclaiming a two-point lead at the top.
While they are still firmly in the promotion race, it’s clear that an additional striker could have made this push much more straightforward.
Several names are now linked with the club, including Tammy Abraham, Sunderland’s Wilson Isidor, and Josh Sargent.
Josh Sargent Transfer Update Amid Leeds Links
Ahead of the summer, it’s been reported that Farke is eager to bring Josh Sargent to Leeds United, following an impressive 2024/25 campaign from the former Norwich City forward.
Sargent, 25, has netted 12 goals and provided five assists in 24 Championship appearances, placing him third in the league’s top scorer list.
Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg recently shared that Premier League and Bundesliga clubs have shown interest in Sargent, with Norwich City valuing him between €15-20 million (£12.66-16.88 million). Norwich paid Werder Bremen £8 million to sign Sargent in 2021.
Plettenberg also suggests that Sargent might be open to a summer move, noting that he is “planning his next step,” with Norwich currently sitting 12th in the Championship and seven points off the top six.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Praise for Josh Sargent
Sargent has been called up to the USMNT for this month’s international break, and his international manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has praised him highly.
Pochettino described Sargent as the best striker in the Championship, saying, “He is the most in-form striker in his league.
We are talking about a player who is doing really well in the Championship.”
Leeds would likely need promotion to make a deal for Sargent feasible, both in terms of finances and attracting the player, especially with growing interest from top-flight clubs in England and Germany.
However, the opportunity to reunite with Farke could prove a strong pull for Sargent, who faces West Brom this Saturday with Norwich.
