Don Goodman Predicts Kieran McKenna Will Stay at Ipswich Town Even if Relegation Hits
Don Goodman believes Kieran McKenna will remain at Ipswich Town next season, even if the club is relegated back to the Championship.
Ipswich is on the brink of relegation from the Premier League, just a year after securing a remarkable promotion.

Goodman expects McKenna to stay with Ipswich, regardless of relegation, due to the club’s long-term ambitions.
“I’d be really surprised if Kieran McKenna didn’t choose to stay at Ipswich for next season.
They’re a very ambitious club, desperate to get to the Premier League and, more importantly, stay there,” Goodman exclusively told Football League World.
He added, “While I do have questions about their recruitment strategy last summer and in January, they’re still likely to have a strong squad next season, and McKenna could play a crucial role in their Championship campaign.”
Goodman also raised doubts about whether McKenna would find a better opportunity elsewhere, especially at a Premier League club, making Ipswich an ideal place for him to stay if they drop down a division.
Ipswich’s Struggles and McKenna’s Future
Currently 18th in the Premier League, Ipswich is eight points from safety with just nine games remaining. Despite the club’s struggles, McKenna’s reputation remains intact, thanks to his impressive work in getting them promoted in the first place.
If Ipswich does return to the Championship, McKenna would have a strong chance of leading them back to the top flight, provided they keep the core of their squad.
With a quieter managerial market expected this summer—unless clubs like Chelsea or Tottenham Hotspur make changes—keeping McKenna could be crucial for Ipswich’s promotion hopes in 2026.
