There are concerns that the San Francisco 49ers could reconsider their potential takeover of Rangers following the recent fan incident, according to journalist Keith Jackson.
Speaking on Hotline Live (25 March), Jackson questioned whether fans were deliberately testing the waters with the prospective new owners.
He highlighted that the 49ers, with their global reach and PR focus, might be put off by the controversy.
Jackson remarked, “What are Rangers supporters thinking? Do they realize that the 49ers are in talks to take over? Are they trying to provoke them?
There may be people within the 49ers organization who see this and wonder, ‘We’re about to spend how much on this club, and they’re being charged with racism by UEFA?’”
He continued, “This is an incredibly foolish situation they’ve created. I applaud Rangers for their statement, but why wait for UEFA to step in? This should have been addressed much sooner.”

Rangers have endured a tough domestic season, leading to the sacking of manager Philippe Clement.
