Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Enso González is on track to rejoin the first team before the season concludes as he accelerates his recovery from injury.
According to journalist Christian Martin, speaking to Versus, there are positive indications that the 20-year-old will make a return from a long-term absence soon.
González, who joined Wolves from Libertad for €6m in August 2023, has only made a brief one-minute appearance for the senior team in May 2024. He has not played since suffering a cruciate ligament tear in July of the same year, which sidelined him for 43 matches and kept him on the treatment table for 310 days.
Although his return was initially expected in June, meaning he would miss the rest of the current season, Martin has been adamant that this timeline will not hold true. He has reported that González is eager to come back as soon as possible, though Wolves are ensuring he doesn’t rush his recovery.
Now, Martin says the next stage of the player’s recovery is approaching, and there’s growing confidence that he will play before the season ends.
“Enso is going to start training with the team in about ten days or two weeks,” Martin stated. “He’ll be fully cleared in April and will wear the Wolves jersey before the season is over, I’m certain of that.”
“Expect to see him with the U-20s and the first team soon. I believe the official clearance will come soon, and he’ll be 100% available to play.”
