Sutton acknowledged Palace’s solid record at Craven Cottage, as well as the return of Jean-Philippe Mateta, but still tipped Fulham to come out on top and secure a 2-1 victory to reach the semi-finals.
“Crystal Palace won at Craven Cottage at the end of February, and they’ve got a good record there—unbeaten in their last six visits since 2005,” Sutton wrote on BBC Sport.
“The Eagles are a well-balanced side under Oliver Glasner, and they’ve lost only two of their last 14 games in all competitions.”
“Fulham have been a bit unpredictable this season, especially at home, but they’re still having a strong campaign.
They’re in the mix for a Champions League spot, just three points behind fifth-placed City.”
“Palace are very strong away, but they haven’t played in three weeks due to the postponed match against Newcastle because of the Carabao Cup final. I’m concerned that the break may have interrupted their momentum.”
“This is going to be a close game, but I think Fulham will edge it. Marco Silva’s team has goals in them, and my gut feeling is they’ll get through in 90 minutes.”
Team News for Fulham vs Crystal Palace
Fulham have been boosted by the return of Sasa Lukic, who has completed a two-game ban, but Kenny Tete, Harry Wilson, and Reiss Nelson remain sidelined.
On the other hand, Palace boss Oliver Glasner will welcome back Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has been out for a month recovering from an injury sustained in the previous round against Millwall.
Mateta, who required 25 stitches in his ear, will wear protective headgear for the match.
