“He’ll be out for a while” – Nottingham Forest manager confirms fan-favorite will be sidelined for an extended period due to serious calf injury.

Nottingham Forest’s surprise Premier League star this season, Ola Aina, will miss their upcoming match against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, April 5.

The Nigerian international was forced off with an injury during the first half of Forest’s 1-0 win over Manchester United at the City Ground on Tuesday night. Struggling to walk, Aina was helped off the pitch by a member of the Forest medical staff, suggesting the injury could be serious.

Reports from Allnigeriasoccer.com indicate that the Chelsea academy graduate sustained a possible calf injury, which led to his substitution in the 39th minute.

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo confirmed that Aina will be out for an unspecified period after scans revealed the calf injury. Describing the setback as a “big blow,” the Portuguese manager stressed the importance of the versatile right-back to the team.

“He has already undergone the scan and will be out for a while, unavailable. A big blow (to lose him),” Nuno Espírito Santo said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

When asked what he would miss about Aina, the Forest boss added: “His quality, talent, and the routines he already has with his teammates—we are going to miss him. It is a problem with the calf.”

Aina has been a regular starter for Forest this season, featuring in all 30 Premier League games, playing 2,574 minutes, scoring two goals, and providing one assist.

Nigeria manager Eric Chelle will be closely monitoring Aina’s recovery as the summer internationals approach.
