Everything Hinges on Monday for Leeds United
After weeks — even months — of speculation, Leeds United fans finally have a date to circle: Easter Monday. It marks the first real opportunity for the club to confirm their return to the Premier League for the 2025–26 season.
Daniel Farke’s men will host Stoke City at 3pm, with eyes also on the later 5:30pm fixture where Sheffield United travel to face Burnley at Turf Moor.
If Leeds win, they’ll reach 94 points. But to mathematically secure automatic promotion, they need to do better than Sheffield United’s result. That means if Leeds win, Sheffield United must also win away against a Burnley side unbeaten in 30 games — a daunting task, especially considering Burnley already beat them at Bramall Lane earlier this season.
Given the matchups — Leeds at home against mid-table Stoke and Sheffield United facing a tough away day — the odds are leaning in Leeds’ favor.
Parkin Backs Leeds to Deliver
Football League pundit Sam Parkin believes Leeds will handle the pressure and get the job done, predicting a solid 2-0 victory.
“Yeah, I think Leeds win this,” Parkin said. “Stoke’s recent win will give them a bit of freedom, but Leeds will be too strong. A comfortable 2-0 home win.”
Leeds have collected a remarkable 91 points from 43 games, and with three fixtures remaining, they still have a shot at hitting the 100-point milestone. Stoke, meanwhile, have pulled away from the relegation scrap under Mark Robins, climbing to 16th after going five matches unbeaten — winning three of them.
Still, Leeds are expected to prove too much at Elland Road.
Sheffield United’s Uphill Battle
Should Leeds win as expected, Sheffield United would need to claim three points at Burnley to stay in the automatic promotion race. Even then, their aim may shift from chasing Leeds to trying to overtake Burnley in the standings.
Parkin sees the clash at Turf Moor ending in a 0-0 draw: “It’s been an incredible season for Burnley. I think it finishes goalless. Sheffield United’s fate gets sealed.”
A draw would leave the Blades on 87 points — not enough to catch Leeds if they win — while Burnley would move to 92.
