Simon Jordan Shares His Thoughts on Leeds United’s Premier League Survival Hopes
Leeds United have made their return to the Premier League, and the celebrations are still ongoing—at least for now.
Daniel Farke and his squad have been enjoying their promotion, which was effectively secured after a dominant 6-0 win over Stoke City on Easter Monday, followed by Burnley’s win over Sheffield United.
Scott Parker’s Burnley have also confirmed promotion, and the two sides are now set for a final push to claim the Championship title in their remaining two matches.
However, the real challenge lies ahead. Leeds and Burnley will soon shift focus to next season, where survival in an increasingly competitive Premier League will be the ultimate goal.
Recent seasons haven’t been kind to newly promoted clubs, with Southampton and Leicester City both dropping straight back down. Ipswich Town may be facing a similar fate.
Speaking on the matter, Simon Jordan believes Leeds will need to invest heavily—at least £50m to £60m in the transfer window—to give themselves a fighting chance. Despite the uphill battle, he’s optimistic they can defy the odds.
Simon Jordan Backs Leeds to Stay Up
Appearing on TalkSport, Jordan expressed confidence in both Leeds and Burnley’s ability to compete at the top level. He expects both clubs to support their managers with significant backing in the summer.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if they both put up a good fight and give themselves a real shot,” Jordan said. “If you asked me to bet on Leeds and Burnley avoiding relegation, I’d take that bet. I’d put £100 on each—it’s worth the risk.”
He highlighted Daniel Farke’s capabilities as a manager, noting that his time at Norwich wasn’t supported by major investment.
“If you get £50-60 million across two seasons to build a Premier League team, you’re still at the mercy of fortune,” Jordan added. “Look at Nottingham Forest—they spent big and just managed to stay up. Villa did the same.”
Jordan concluded that while luck and smart signings play a role, having quality players makes it more likely that fortune will swing your way.
A Busy Summer Window Ahead for Leeds
With Premier League football secured, Leeds are expected to be active in the transfer market. Farke has already signaled that he expects the club’s owners, the 49ers, to show serious ambition—especially after a frustratingly quiet January window.
Speculation is building, with Russian midfielder Edouard Spertsyan reportedly on the radar. Club legend Kalvin Phillips is also being linked with a return, amid talks of a potential £100m summer budget.
Veteran forwards Danny Ings and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been mentioned as targets, though those names may not excite every fan.
Tottenham’s valuation for Manor Solomon has also surfaced as a possible deal.
With months to go until the window closes, Leeds are likely to be linked with many more names as they prepare for life back in the top flight.
