Morgan Gibbs-White has shared his admiration for Nottingham Forest fans after their FA Cup loss to Manchester City.
The City Ground side couldn’t recover from two early goals by the Citizens, despite their efforts to respond.
Although Forest tried hard, they struggled to get past Pep Guardiola’s team, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s attacking choices facing criticism after the match.
Forest’s best chances came through Gibbs-White, who was unlucky to be denied by the woodwork twice.
Despite the disappointment of a Wembley loss, the temporary Forest captain took the time to praise the supporters who had traveled to the match.
Gibbs-White Praises Forest Fans
Reaching their first FA Cup semi-final since 1991, it was no surprise that thousands of Forest fans made the trip to London.
Even after falling behind early, the fans’ energy remained high, with their voices easily outshouting the City supporters.
Gibbs-White, who has been linked to a move to Manchester City, made sure to acknowledge the unwavering support of the Forest faithful, calling it the best he’s ever experienced.
In an Instagram post, he said:
“Your support was the best I’ve ever seen. Sorry we couldn’t get the job done. Five more finals to go.”
Chris Wood’s Message to Fans
Gibbs-White wasn’t the only player to thank the supporters. Striker Chris Wood also took to Instagram to express his gratitude:
“Not meant to be! Thank you as always for the support.”
Although Forest fans may be disappointed by the FA Cup exit, there’s still plenty of hope.
With European football on the line, the squad will look to focus on their remaining five fixtures—what Gibbs-White refers to as “five more finals.”
The fans’ passion will likely remain as strong as ever as Forest aims for a place in the Champions League.
