“I Got Goosebumps”- Zach Abbott claims Nottingham Forest fans did something at Wembley that gave him ‘goosebumps’ vs Man City
Zach Abbott’s inclusion in Nottingham Forest’s FA Cup match against Manchester City came as a surprise, but the young defender has since shared his thoughts on the unforgettable experience at Wembley.
While Nuno Espirito Santo faced criticism for some of his tactical choices, one decision that paid off was starting Abbott at right-back.
The 18-year-old put in a commendable performance against the likes of Omar Marmoush and Jack Grealish, earning praise from fans after the match.
Still riding high from his Wembley debut, Abbott has now opened up about what it was like to play at the iconic stadium.
Zach Abbott Thanks Forest Fans
Despite having only made two appearances for Forest before his FA Cup outing, Ryan Yates revealed that Abbott appeared calm and collected ahead of the match.
Abbott himself reflected on the electric atmosphere, saying:
“The fans were excellent, immense. When I heard them chanting my name in the warm-up, I got goosebumps. It was one of the best feelings of my life.”
Abbott Ready for the Premier League Push
When asked about what’s next for him and Forest, Abbott gave a confident response as the team looks to secure a top-five finish in the Premier League:
“It’s massive, to get that top five, it would mean a lot to us. That’s all we are focused on now—five more finals, five more massive games. We are so focused on it and we can’t wait for the run-in.”
With Abbott fired up for the final stretch, it raises the question of whether he will be called upon in the coming matches.
With Ola Aina sidelined and Harry Toffolo rejoining the fold in recent weeks, Neco Williams has returned to right-back.
However, given Aina’s ongoing injury concerns and Toffolo’s history with fitness issues, Abbott may well find himself in the starting lineup again before the season ends.
Should he be called upon, following his strong showing at Wembley, Abbott will likely be ready to rise to the challenge.
