The Whites, already promoted, can clinch the Championship crown with a win, which would also see them hit an impressive 100-point milestone. Daniel Farke’s side are on a hot streak, winning five straight and unbeaten in their last nine matches. Their demolition of Bristol City earlier this week was a fitting celebration of their return to the Premier League.
For Plymouth, the stakes are just as high but far more desperate. While they’ve shown late-season fight with five wins in their last nine games, survival now hinges on defeating Leeds and other results swinging their way. Even then, their survival depends on a highly unlikely goal difference swing.
Final Day Scenarios: What’s at Stake
- If Leeds win, Burnley would need to beat Millwall by at least 15 goals to steal the title—virtually impossible. Plymouth would also be relegated in this scenario.
- If Leeds draw, they still win the title unless Burnley defeat Millwall. Plymouth would still go down regardless of the result elsewhere.
- If Leeds lose, they could still be crowned champions, but only if Millwall manage to beat Burnley. Plymouth would need a massive goal swing—around 14–15 goals—or hope for a huge defeat for Luton or others to stay up.
While Leeds have been dominant overall, their away form hasn’t matched their Elland Road performances. Still, their record against lower-half teams is exceptional, having earned 54 of a possible 69 points against clubs placed 12th or lower—only slipping up once, in a shock loss to Portsmouth.
Plymouth’s Hope at Home
Argyle can take some comfort from their strong home record against the league’s top teams. They’ve hosted nine top-10 sides this season, winning six and losing just once. Scoring 22 goals in those fixtures, they’ve proven capable of causing upsets at Home Park.
Still, the odds heavily favor Leeds, who only need to match Burnley’s result to seal their second Championship title in five years.
