Paul Merson Reacts to Farke’s Potential Sacking
With speculation mounting, opinions are divided. Some fans are wary of Farke’s Premier League record and fear relegation, while others argue that the circumstances at Norwich were far from ideal and believe he deserves another shot.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Arsenal legend Paul Merson weighed in, expressing disbelief at the idea of parting ways with Farke after such a successful season.
“I’d be amazed if he’s not in charge next season,” Merson said. “He’s done an unbelievable job. Getting Leeds out of the Championship isn’t easy — the pressure was immense. It’s such a big club. Unless they bring in someone like [Carlo] Ancelotti, he deserves to stay. Who else are they going to get?”
Leeds Ironically Linked With Ancelotti’s Son
In a twist of irony, Merson’s mention of Ancelotti might not be far from reality — Leeds have reportedly shown interest in Davide Ancelotti, the son of Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti. Davide has served as assistant to his father at top clubs including Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton, and Real Madrid, and is said to be seeking a managerial role of his own.
According to The Guardian, Leeds have approached three potential candidates to replace Farke: Davide Ancelotti, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Roger Schmidt. Cesc Fabregas, currently impressing as manager of Como, has also been linked.
