Steve Parish Confirms Oliver Glasner Will Remain at Crystal Palace Amid Growing Interest
Crystal Palace chairman and co-owner Steve Parish has confirmed that manager Oliver Glasner will remain in charge next season, following the club’s historic FA Cup victory over Manchester City at Wembley.
The win not only secured Palace’s first major trophy but also earned them a place in next season’s Europa League, signaling a new era for the club.
Glasner’s success has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig.
Spurs are reportedly considering the Austrian coach as a potential replacement should they part ways with Ange Postecoglou. However, Parish has made it clear that Glasner is not for sale.
“He will stay here. For some period of time,” Parish stated. “I’m trying to live in the moment.
What happens in the summer, with transfers and players, is for another day. But he’ll be here next year, and we’ll take it from there.”
Glasner is under contract at Selhurst Park until June 2026, and Parish confirmed that discussions have already begun to extend that deal. However, he emphasized the importance of timing and mutual agreement.
“We’ve been talking about it,” Parish said. “With Oliver, it’s not about the things people might assume.
He wants to be part of something progressing in the right direction, and that’s what we all want. We’ll revisit those conversations at the right time.”
Appointed in February of last year, Glasner has made a significant impact, leading Palace to a joint-record 10th-place finish last season with 49 points. He has equaled that tally again this season with two matches still to play.
Glasner was even targeted by Bayern Munich last summer, but Palace successfully kept him in South London.
This season’s FA Cup win marks Glasner’s second major trophy as a manager, adding to his 2022 Europa League triumph with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Looking ahead to next season’s European campaign, Parish acknowledged the upcoming challenges and opportunities. “We know Thursday nights in Europe followed by weekend league matches will be demanding.
But we’ll work closely with Oliver to prepare and build a squad capable of handling it. We’re not going to go overboard, but we will be ambitious.”
Parish also praised the club’s supporters, saying, “The fans play a huge role. You don’t get many like ours – 99.9% always supportive. That creates a strong, stable environment for the players.
Add in European football, and it becomes an even more attractive proposition.”
He also confirmed that team captain Marc Guéhi, who left the FA Cup final with an eye injury, was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after the match celebrations.
Fortunately, he was given the all-clear and returned home Saturday night.
