With just two games left in the 2024/25 season, Wolves manager Vitor Pereira is preparing to shift his focus entirely to the summer transfer window.
After arriving in December, Pereira had an impressive start in the January transfer market, bringing in three players—two of whom, Emmanuel Agbadou and Marshall Munetsi, have become key figures in the first team.
However, there’s still considerable work needed to strengthen the squad’s depth, especially as major changes to the starting XI are anticipated over the summer.
Pereira Calls on Fosun for a Strong Summer Window
Two of Wolves’ standout performers, Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, are attracting serious interest from Premier League giants. Cunha appears set to join Manchester United after a lengthy transfer saga, while Manchester City is reportedly eyeing Ait-Nouri. Their potential departures underline the urgent need for quality reinforcements.
Pereira has openly stated his desire to avoid the cycle of losing top players, a pattern that has hindered his predecessors. He warned Wolves’ owners, Fosun, that regularly selling key talent undermines long-term progress.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming fixture against Crystal Palace, Pereira reiterated the challenges ahead:
“I need a break. I started in Saudi Arabia—it was tough work, and it’s been tough here too. Now it’s time to rest, because there’s a lot of work to do this summer.”
His comments hinted at a clear message to the board: success will only come with the right support and resources.
“I need to be on calls, in meetings, doing all I can to help the club have the best transfer window possible and build real expectations. But that only happens when we have the right tools—and we need those tools to raise our level.”
Fosun Must Act Fast to Replace Cunha
Cunha’s expected move to Manchester United, which would see Wolves receive £62.5 million via his release clause, remains the dominant storyline heading into the transfer window.
While the team has shown flashes of quality without him, replacing a player who has contributed to nearly 40% of Wolves’ Premier League goals since the start of the 2023/24 season is non-negotiable.
Pereira wants more than another season of survival followed by recovery—he’s targeting real progress. To achieve that, Fosun must act decisively and ambitiously in the market.
Failure to adequately replace Cunha’s goal threat could seriously hamper Wolves’ ambitions for the season ahead.
