Tottenham Injury Update: Richarlison Substituted After an Hour in Europa League Final vs Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt another injury setback, with Richarlison forced off in the second half of the Europa League final against Manchester United.

The Brazilian forward was replaced by Son Heung-min around the 60-minute mark.

Richarlison went down after winning possession deep in Spurs’ half while defending against Amad Diallo. Manager Ange Postecoglou had opted to start Richarlison over Son on the left wing for the final.

Despite being benched initially, Son made an appearance with just under 30 minutes remaining, stepping into an already weakened attack.

The North London club entered the final missing key players—Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison were unavailable due to injury, and Lucas Bergvall was also ruled out and won’t feature this weekend.

This latest setback comes after Richarlison had enjoyed nearly two months of fitness.

However, the Brazilian has struggled throughout the season with recurring calf and hamstring issues, frequently sidelining him.

Tottenham had taken the lead in Bilbao thanks to a scrappy first-half goal by Brennan Johnson, who capitalized on a cross from Pape Matar Sarr.

The ball took a deflection off Luke Shaw and beat United goalkeeper Andre Onana. UEFA credited Johnson with the goal, giving Spurs something to defend.

Richarlison made a strong defensive contribution before his injury, tracking back to support Destiny Udogie in containing Amad.

On the opposite flank, Pedro Porro and Johnson kept Mason Mount quiet.

Spurs’ defensive effort held firm even as United manager Ruben Amorim introduced Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee to spark his attack, replacing Rasmus Højlund and Mount.

Just moments before Richarlison was subbed off, Micky van de Ven made a crucial goal-line clearance to preserve the lead.
